Health & Happiness

HEALTH & HAPPINESS

The HEALTH & HAPPINESS course at Avnø is flexibly built up, so that you have a say over the length and content of your stay. Start with one of the basic modules and add a number of project weeks. If you do not already know which project you want to work on, you will receive support to choose a suitable project for you.

It can be a very personal project (career, health, house, garden), a community project or design of a green business or an eco-community.

During the project, you focus equally on work in your project group and participation in the school’s other activities.

In the project group, you design, implement and present – with the support of a mentor – one or more projects, either at the school or elsewhere. The school’s other activities are life – enriching, general education and develop your ability to participate in the community as well as your practical skills.

Everyone who has participated in project courses is invited to follow-up weekends, where the further development of the projects will be presented and evaluated.

Calendar

You may participate in any basic module or in any basic module + its project course.

Start of basic module + project course: April 6, April 29, May 12 or… (more dates on the way)…

Activities

The school’s other activities are continuously developed in co – creation between students and teachers. They can take the form of intensive theme days or weekly / daily activities. We strive for you to participate in activities that make sense to you.

Activities

Based on desire and curiosity about materials and techniques.
It is a creative workshop where various techniques and materials can be worked on by agreement. Both the delicious expensive paint, but also the recycling of last year’s Christmas gift paper or your old curtains. It is based on the students’ desire to learn and explore materials and processes.

A program for the theme of the month will be posted, e.g. perspective drawing, sampling, self-portrait, mandala … then the theme is worked on from different angles and with different materials. There is room for us to experiment together.

The teacher does not know everything, but also helps to explore and learn new things. So do you want to try different materials and techniques? Find out if it is for you to make boxes from recycled materials, weave baskets of paper, paint “Smurf houses” on stone, or something completely different, then here is the opportunity to test your creativity and maybe find something you are passionate about.

Teacher: Gitte Hansen

Here can be room for students and “evening school participants”

We meet and share perspectives around a chapter of a book / podcast / video. Students are welcome to suggest books.

CHI GONG

Is getting a good and gentle start to the day,

Chi gong is an ancient Chinese “science” – a way to work with your chi and keep it alive/in a healthy flow.

Chi gong can be described more contemporaryly and westernly as a gentle
form of exercise “motion meditation”.

A slow exercise that strengthens and relaxes body and mind. Chi Gong is for everyone. The movements are so calm and gentle that everyone can join in and if you have defects, the exercises can be adjusted to suit the individual. It is also formidable for rehabilitation, both physically andmentally.

Chi – energy/vitality
gong – “the dedicated time I spend working with my chi”

There are many different types for chi gong

I teach the following:

Medical Chi gong
This little chigong series called “Medical Chi Gong” is easy to learn and perform.

Tai-Chi 18 chi gong
A slightly longer chigong series with 18 movments.

What you take with you from teaching is an expanded awareness and hopefully the desire to practice chi gong, even after completing course

Chi gong focuses on: Breathing, movement, visualization, energy.

Breathing calms the nervous system and dampens the stress response in the body.

The movement and breathing activate chi and relax the body to create flow of Qi.

The visualization, The individual exercises have names that help to create the visualization, help to create calm, to achieve the meditative part of chi gong.

The energy moves where our focus is. Therefore, we consciously focus on visualization and movement and the purpose of the exercise. It promotes the beneficial effect that the Qigong exercise provides.

Teacher: Gitte Hansen

This topic can be for Thursday evening 19 – 21 and we can also invite some local people to participate

Choir/common song
Singing together makes hearts beat together, that’s why community singing gives this familiar sense of community. It shifts from an I-focus to a we-focus.

Teaching:
With bodily and musical exercises, we warm up in voice and body. There must be room to play. for crazy ideas. The repertoire will consist of easy multi-voiced songs (the starting point is the two-voiced) Which is primarily sung in Danish, but foreign songs can also be included

The principle is that it is easy and everyonecan participate.

The benefit of participating
should be the
joy of singing in a community. There are also many other benefits to singing. On a physical level, singing helps with both breathing and blood circulation. And on a mental level, the song has a de-stressing effect

Teacher: Gitte Hansen

An inner journey

The course will join with the Psychology and Jungian Dreamwork course in the weekend-intensives.

Meditation

Meditation simple means being with what is, being aware of what is – being aware of being itself. You will learn the basics of meditation and be guided in the exploration of your inner landscape.

You will unlearn, empty and transform yourself through various meditation techniques from amongst others the OSHO, the tantric and the buddhist tradition.

The meditation techniques will be intersubjective (socially engaging), active (energetic) and passive (non-doing).

The techniques will be taught in depth and in detail through presentations and Q & A’s. You’ll get time to practice on your own and to exchange experiences with your peers.

Textbooks will be recommended for more in-depth exploration of the subject.

Pitfalls of the ego will be demonstrated through role-play .

The weekend intensives will enable you to go deeper, lower and higher for a short period. The aim is to keep a continuous meditative practice during the course period as it is more beneficial to meditate a little every day than a lot once in a while.

Expected results

You’ll unlearn more than you’ll learn

Room for both students and for “evening school participants” Should then be planned as a course with a certain number of times.
New students cannot be admitted along the way. Since writing together and sharing your texts can be a vulnerable situation and the relationship and trust that is built between the participants is important for the process.

Writing a short story

The aim is to grow and improve your writing pleasure.
Based on the short story as a genre, small writing exercises of varying lengths and content will be worked on that will make the participants aware of the magic of being able to create a narrative themselves.

Learning about giving and, not least, receiving a response to the writing.

The plan is that we all have at least one finished short story at the end of the writing process.
